happy memorial day

A heartfelt thank you to all the veterans who served our country. In loving memory of all who went to war and did not return. Let's remember what this day is really about when we fire up our grills this Memorial Day.

bad blogger!

I've been MIA for the last few days because life suddenly got crazy! I now have 3 feline friends, all of which came to live with me on the same day. Two of them are a brother/sister duo that came from my Gramma Kay's. She passed away Christmas morning and left behind five fur babies, 3 of which were persians and found homes right away. These two were facing shelter life and being 13 years old and inseparable they would probably be put down. And since I have SUCKER written in bold print on my forehead I took them in despite wretched allergies to kitties. The third kitty is a kitten that came from a neighbors litter.

So that's what is happening at my house! I'll be back to quilty blogging shortly, I promise!

while i recover...

My sister got married today! Now, I'm in recovery mode lol! My sweet daughter was a flower girl, my sister is a horrid time keeper and planner so the weekend was a bit stressful but somehow it all got done on time! I got stuck going out to their hotel room to decorate and when I went to leave to go to the church my car wouldn't start! My dad had to come rescue me while the guys were taking pictures. Thankfully, it started again after the ceremony after burping the fuel line (yea REAL attractive in tuxes and heels!)

Oh, and my next post will detail what happens to your lawn when you let a 6 & 8 year old loose on your riding mower. I'm now the proud parent of lawn sculptors!

blogger's quilt festival

This is my entry into the quilt festival. I love this quilt because it's the first I've ever completed from start to finish. It was also one of the only quilts I didn't use any precuts on! I also stippled this quilt, which wasn't as horrible as everyone makes it out to be, it's now my go to style for quilting.

It's a small quilt, a bit larger than a crib size and it's backed in one of my favorite fabrics ever, apples & pears by alexander henry. It may not match but it's certainly fun!

100th post

And what better way than to celebrate with another finish! This is the quilt I started for my son at the beginning of the blog and was intended for Christmas! And he has no interest in it :p My daughter on the other hand has hers with her whenever I'm not home. This is made with Arcadia, and the back is pieced that way b/c I didn't order enough of the brown so I borrowed from the binding. In the end it all worked out! And if you haven't noticed, I like LOVE Moda and I hate straying from lines. That will change eventually, I'm building up scraps! This is a disappearing 9 patch, easy peasy lemon squeezy!!

crafty non quilty post

I've seen these a few times here and there and decided to make them. They're bowls made out of records! The little one is my favorite, I may have to put a magnet in the bottom somehow to turn it into a pin magnet. My sister is going to get a set for her wedding later this month (and no, she's not a blog reader!).

anyone wanna review a couple patterns i'm writing? aka the BIG announcement

I'm really wanting to try my hand at writing patterns that are precut friendly (as we all know I adore precuts!). One is made using a jelly roll and a solid that could easily be a solid jelly roll. The other uses either 2 charm packs or 1 layer cake, a jelly roll, and a honey bun. I'm still in the process of typing them up but hope to have them ready by the end of the weekend. I would like a couple people to review just the numbers and ease of directions and a couple to make the pattern from start to finish into a finished quilt.

If you would like to review the patterns without making the quilt I will mail you a hard copy of each finished patterns that you reviewed and you will get first dibs on any future patterns along with receiving a hard copy of the finished product.

If you would like to review the patterns with making the quilt send good quality photos (who knows, it *MAY* end up making the final cover!) and you will get 6 hard copies of each pattern in the future, 1 to keep for yourself and 5 to giveaway, PLUS if your quilt makes the cover I will credit your work on the back of the pattern and direct to your blog. I WILL NEVER ASK TO SEND ME YOUR QUILT!!! You will also get first dibs on reviewing any future patterns.

Both patterns I have drawn up are beginner friendly, however, I ask that you have experience reading a pattern and have great math skills. One pattern would be very easy to get 2 quilts out of 1 jelly roll (if my math skills are right).

And I need you to be completely honest. Tell me they suck if they suck, tell me they're boring if they are, tell me if you would or wouldn't buy them. Be honest! Any suggestions to make the pattern better? Tell me! I need your complete and honest feedback.

If you are genuinely interested PLEASE email me using the contact me link at the top of the page.

thanks for all the interest! i have enough pattern testers at this time!

going to be cryptic

Yes, keep your eyes peeled. I have an announcement. And *YOU* have the ability to help. Just stay tuned, I promise it's awesome (at least to me!). Oh, and I bought a jelly roll of this from the awesome Leah @ Burgundy Buttons. I heart her.

*here's a hint* my big announcement uses this fabric.

Ciao!

judging interest

I loved the pinwheel sampler quilt along. I'd love to know if any of you wonderful blog readers would be interested in a Pickles & Bacon quilt along?? Still trying to figure out what exactly the quilt will be, I loved the sampler style of the pinwheel and since that went to my mom maybe we can do a star sampler? Or maybe just a garden variety of popular style blocks? Have a suggestion? Let me know!
